Retired Army veteran Chris M. was living in an apartment with friends, but found himself at a crossroads when they decided they wanted to move to Stockbridge. Without a car, that would add 13 miles to his existing work commute and with MARTA’s bus service being what it is, it would take an additional 2-3 hours just to get to and from his job as an essential worker stocking shelves at a large department and grocery store.
So Chris started researching to see what other options could be available to him. His credit score wasn’t great due to debt he fell into following a break-up, so Chris was excited to learn about PadSplit from his online searching.
With his full-time, steady employment of three years, and his military service, Chris was approved immediately and was able to find a PadSplit that was close to his work.

For Chris, being in a PadSplit has been a great experience. “So far, so good. I don’t have any complaints,” he says.
The main driver of being in a PadSplit is the proximity to Chris’ job, but he’s also excited about the amount he saves since all utilities and wifi are included. He doesn’t use the kitchen much with his work schedule being what it is, but Chris happily takes advantage of the wifi to watch TV in his bedroom and the in-unit washer and dryer.
With everything included in his PadSplit weekly rent payments, Chris is actually paying less than what he was paying when living with his roommates in a traditional apartment. He’s happy to add these extra savings toward his longer-term financial goals.
Credit repair will help him purchase a home

Long-term, Chris hopes that living in a PadSplit will help him to improve his credit score enough to purchase a home. He previously owned a home and knows the benefits of having one, so it’s just a matter of increasing his credit score.
