PadSplit’s mission is to solve the affordable housing crisis one room at a time. We use housing as a vehicle to create holistic affordability and financial independence for the millions of Americans most in need. This is a series on the people that we are serving.
Tanayah moved across the country to pursue her dream of becoming a media mogul. Originally from Seattle, Washington, she was drawn to Atlanta by Clark Atlanta University’s broadcast club. She has been studying Mass Media and Communications for the past two years and continues to learn about the industry. A maven in the making, Tanayah is looking to infiltrate the media business.
“I always wanted to do TV and radio, and I’m very into social media.” said Tanayah.
Social media is how Tanayah first became aware of PadSplit.
“I actually found [out about] it on Facebook. I was being shown homes around the West End area in Atlanta. The ad said that you can pay weekly or bi-weekly and that you can move-in within 48 hours. I was in desperate need, so that came in handy.”
With rising costs of tuition and housing, living on campus is not a reality for most students. Students like Tanayah work multiple jobs and take on massive amounts of student loan debt to afford to live close to campus. Meanwhile, rising housing costs in metropolitan Atlanta place homes out of the reach of lower-income people.
“Dorms are really expensive, but [PadSplit] is in my budget range.”
The fast, convenient, and flexible payment options are an oft-cited draw for PadSplit members, and critical for working students like Tanayah. She’s also able to walk to school and enjoy the nearby happenings of downtown Atlanta. She couldn’t believe that she found a safe, affordable, fully-furnished unit so inexpensively, and she looks forward to completing her degree and pursuing her career.
By providing holistic & affordable housing solutions, PadSplit is offering future generations the opportunity to achieve their goals. . . one room at a time.
